This sweater design is the 1908-1971 Massachusetts state flag with a reversal of colors. This concept was chosen as the winning design for Massachusetts.
The Story: Massachusetts was one of the only states in the Union with a reverse on their flag (depicted here). During this time, flags were still hand-painted. However, towards the end of its reign, having a flag reverse was too expensive for mass production. The blue shield features a pine tree which was a symbol for the region. This symbol was partially inspired by the Pine Tree Riot of 1772, where the tree symbolized resistance and independence.
This product is a thick, embroidered hoodie with a hood and hockey lace tie-up. Massachusetts is highlighted with two patches on the shoulders, in addition to the historic flag concept.
