Background: The concept of this product has been in the works for over three years. How can we showcase hockey history in a unique yet sophisticated manner? With this help of a watch craftsman we solved the puzzle on how to upcycle historic used hockey sticks into classic timepieces.
This limited edition watch is constructed using the iconic 1988 Titan TSM hockey stick employed by famous NHLers and the public they inspired.
Why we chose this stick: This is the second Titan hockey stick in our historic watch collection because Titan was such an notable brand during the 1980s. The Finnish brand was used by the likes of Wayne Gretzky, Denis Potvin, Mike Bossy, and U.S. Olympian Neal Broten. Neal Broten was the first-ever recipient of the Hobey Baker award, member of the 1980 Miracle on Ice team, Stanley Cup winner, and fun fact: one of the only players to ever fight the aforementioned Wayne Gretzky. As a Minnesotan, he spent most of his career playing with Minnesota-based brands like Christian and Northland, but for a brief period he employed and even promoted Titan models. When we had the opportunity to source two of his Titan sticks, we upcycled one into the watch model you see here to represent the Hall of Famer.
Limited Edition: Only 25 of this design are available for purchase based on the available wood material in the stick.
